Starz’s stunning and steamy Mary & George series has breathed 21st-century queer life into the 17th-century royal love affair of England’s King James I and his hottie favorite George Villiers, the Duke of Buckingham. And while James is far from history’s only royal to have been what we would now consider LGBTQ+, he was, fortunately for us, one of the least discreet about his preferences.
